National Centre for Jute Diversification is an Autonomous Body functioning under the administrative control of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. It is a national nodal agency for development & promotion of Jute diversification. The council of Governors of the

Centre comprises of 25 members headed by the Union Textiles Secretary as the ex-officio Chairman.

The Centre is playing an important role in commer- cialisation of technologies for the manufacture of jute diversified products and creating awareness

about the uses of this natural fibre in non-conventional applications like jute composites, jute based paper, jute fabrics, footwear, low cost packaging materials etc.

The Centre has its Head Office at Kolkata and a Regional Office at New Delhi. Total sanctioned strength of officers and staff is 17. The Centre has 16 Collaborating Agencies who operate Jute Service Centres and 3 Jute Service Extension Centres at various locations
